Time to Consider Summer Camp

By Eileen Diener February 7, 2016
Can you believe it's time to start looking at Summer Camp for your kids? Why do I have to-- you ask ---Simple. The kids get to play and you get either time to go to work or some free time to do the millions of tasks we as parents face everyday.  Great summer camps fill up! You want to do all your research in time to make sure your kids are happy with the choices you make.

First thing to consider is what type of camp you would like your child to attend? There are all day, part-time, sleep-away camps and of course do you want it to specialize in certain activities- like reading, soccer, baseball, swimming, dancing, martial arts, computers, etc.

Second- what does your budget look like? Can you afford that sleep away camp or would you like to know more about the local camps that are hosted by the county that are more affordable.

Third- ask questions from everybody! Check out their websites, visit the location if possible, ask on social media, read articles that will help you choose. Here's a great article with 10 questions to ask!

Fourth-How does the camp foster independence as well as a team building environment? You want your child to feel great at camp and want to look forward to it everyday. What kind of training do the counselors get in terms of promoting personal growth and coaching success?

I could keep going- but this is only the beginning. I'll be running a camp guide for our local camps soon in order to help you find the best one for your child. Please feel free to e-mail me with ideas, suggestions or questions! eileend@macaronikid.com
